day one, more than a feeling

Hi People!

Welcome to nani.tarts, where I blog my journey with my little creations—hopefully leading to my dream of opening a café (in the catskills or wherever). I would love to go to culinary school and h
ave been seriously considering it as of late. First things first, I’m starting on a small scale, making the tarts and seeing if I can sell them. Maybe learn a few things on the way.

Today at lunch I went to NY cake a store that sells everything you could imagine a pastry chef or caterer needing. Wow. I’m not sure if it’s “high quality” but who cares? They have what I need to get started. So, $36 down, here’s what I got:

After work I stopped by Virgin to pick up the best of Boston (lead singer died over the weekend) and the best of Journey. Also ended up with an Afro-Peruvian CD, a Brazilian funk CD and Musicology (Prince). Wow, now that I’m writting all of these down I’m realizing how many volumes it’s speaking….my head is definitely somewhere.

Anyway……..

Yesterday I prepped the graham for the crusts. Today I’ll try out a few…still haven’t decided exactly what the crèmes will be this week—I think lemon again, mint again, and a hazelnut/chocolate or hazelnut/mocha or maybe just mocha? I don’t know. I have to perfect the crust first.
